EVENTS

Footstomp Events scored a great coup with Asho acting as the Executive Programmer for BIG SOUND 2010 and 2011.   Produced by Q Music, Big Sound is one of the most respected and fastest growing music business events in the Asia Pacific region.  The event is positioned as Australia’s most internationally focused conference, producing three days of panels, workshops and artist showcases for local, national and international music industry representatives. It was held from the 8th - 10th of September. For more information head to www.bigsound.org.au - keep posted for more info on BIG SOUND 2011.

WHAT PEOPLE SAID ABOUT BIG SOUND 2010

“…easily the best, most well organized music conference I've been to in a decade. It reminded me of SXSW before it got so huge….it was revelatory.”   Peter Jesperson (New West Recordings USA)

“…a triumph on every level. It's the best music conference I've been to in Australia - hands down!” (John O’Donnell)

RESPECT is Brisbane’s only authentic soul revue and has quickly become an institution for the local music community.

Footstomp Music launched RESPECT in early 2008 and has gained the reputation as one of the truly fun nights on the calendar.  The music of artists like Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder has a unique effect everyone in attendance.

Those of you of that have experienced RESPECT will know what we mean.  The atmosphere created by RESPECT is completely unpretentious and a little bit mad.  There is a certain sexuality created by the music and a great freedom as you watch everyone lose their cool.

KICK A HOLE IN THE SKY

Tribute nights are generally left to pay reverence to bands/artists that have sadly passed or broken up. Footstomp Music believes "Kick A Hole In The Sky" A Tribute To YOU AM I served to remind everyone that we Australians are truly lucky to have a band like YOU AM I to call our own.
Kick a Hole in the Sky was the first in a series of tribute nights which combines Footstomp's two great passions. It is gives us an opportunity to celebrates the brilliance and diversity of the Brisbane music community and to pay homage to our favourite bands.
Kicking a hole in their most loved YOU AM I classics were SPEEDSTAR, THE ROCKETSMITHS, THE DAISYCUTTERS, THE BLACKWATER FEVER and ANDREW PETERSEN (Shutterspeed).

RESPECT is back! - Last RESPECT was held in October at X&Y - FREE ENTRY. Keep posted for new dates.

RESPECT was on tour with WASHINGTON in August & September

death or glory

Rolling Stone magazine called THE CLASH the most important band of the 80’s. Starting out in a rage with the first batch of British punk rock bands in the late 70’s before transforming into one of the most innovative bands of all time.

The thing that set THE CLASH apart from their peers was their fascination with the black music and culture that was surrounding them in West London in the late 70’s and again in New York in the early 80’s. Their albums were incredibly diverse including punk rock, reggae, rock, pop and hip hop and the bands performing at Death Or Glory were invited with this in mind.

This celebration of THE CLASH included the bent folk of THE HONEY MONTH, quirk indie from WE ALL WANT TO, the garage rock n roll of BLACK MUSTANG, four on the floor punk rock from THE DISABLES and the agit pop skank of YVES KLEIN BLUE.
